I worked in the Morrison Room of Doe Library with a great boss and a wonderful setting. I was in Army ROTC but joined the USAF after graduation for military service. I participated in Newman Club and Berkeley Co‑op work projects.

A favorite memory is meeting people—almost daily—with diverse opinions about everything imaginable. In the classroom, I fondly remember an introductory German class where we learned German by singing folk songs while the T.A. played guitar and led the sing‑along.
Another favorite was an introductory music class where we studied Beethoven’s Appassionata sonata bar by bar. Even today, 65 years later, it still resonates in my mind. Cal football and the Cal Band were also favorites.

Getting a physics degree that was super challenging—and in the process meeting a wonderful girl whom I married.
I volunteer as a pro bono immigration attorney for non‑profits with weekly clinics. I joined an immigration lawyer group and was appointed to organize events that host citizenship application workshops.
Outside of professional work, I have 18 grandkids, so there is a constant stream of birthdays, graduations, family gatherings, and celebrations.
The Class of ’61 donated an endowed teaching chair to Berkeley thanks to leadership by classmates Bill Ausfaul and Peter Frazier. Gifts to Berkeley are appreciated, especially in support of our endowed teaching chair and the library.
Library gifts include an invitation to a winter lunch in the library with a speaker. A few years ago, Chancellor Carol T. Christ spoke on Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein—a memorable and enchanting talk by a former professor of English.
