“ONE NIGHT ONLY”
by Bruce Kane

(Carl enters, looks around and locks in on Mary as she enters)

CARL: Carl, my man, this could be your lucky night.

MARY: (Sees Carl eyeing her) Cute guy.

CARL: Terrific hair.

MARY: Nice shoulders.

(They begin to circle one another in a kind of mating dance.)

CARL: Sexy.

MARY: Expensive suit.

CARL: Sensational figure.

MARY: A very strong possibility.

CARL: Great legs.

MARY: Mmmmm. Looks intelligent. Vice President of Marketing, maybe.
__
CARL: Terific hooters.

MARY: Probably knocks down about sixty…. seventy thou a year.

(He crosses over to her)

MARY: He's coming over.

CARL: Can I buy you a drink?

MARY: (trying to sound bored and worldly and not particularly interested)
Sure... Why not?

(A bed slides in. Mary crosses to it.)

MARY: An accountant... Well, at least he could do my taxes.

(She gets under the covers)

CARL: Schoolteacher... I was close.

(He gets in next to her.)

MARY: He seemed taller from a distance.

CARL: She looked thinner with her clothes on.

MARY: Should I tell him what I like?

CARL: Her boobs are smaller than I thought.

MARY: Why bother?

CARL: No way this is a twenty five year old body.

(He nuzzles her)

MARY: I'd better not get too excited.

CARL: This one's gonna be a real challenge.

MARY: He’s probably one of those premature types.

CARL: Christ!!!

MARY: Oh no!!!!!!

CARL: I left my jacket at the cleaners...

MARY: My ceiling’s got water stains.

CARL: Damn!

MARY: Oh, just look at him. I know exactly what he's thinking.

CARL: I really wanted to wear that jacket to that meeting tomorrow.

MARY: (moans) Oh God!

CARL: Alright!!!

MARY: I've got a cramp in my foot.

CARL: She's really getting turned on.

MARY: Let's hope he's not out to set a world land speed record.

CARL: Come on, honey...

MARY: I hate faking it.

CARL: She's probably the type that likes to go all night.

MARY: I can feel his heart pounding...

CARL: Good thing I'm in the best shape of my life.

MARY: I hope he's alright.

(The play continues)
